TRAINS ARE ALL LATE TODAY BAD WEATHER HAS CAUSED SLOW ORDERS TO BE GIVEN excursion rates from butte to ogden railroad news and personal reference passengers and mall trains from the east west and south were ill from three to eight hours late in arriving at ogden today on the union pacific road the delays were caused by unavoidable incidents and track conditions incident to general and heavy storms east of green river even the fast through mall train which has the right of way over all trains was more than tour hours behind schedule time this afternoon trains from the west on aitho southern were delayed several hours on the sacramento division but after reaching sparks made record time to ogden and on eastward on the rio grande road similar conditions obtain and all passenger trains from the south have been from two to four hours late there have been no accidents on any of the lines centering in this city and much of the delay is said to have occurred by slow orders issued because of general track conditions due to continuous and heavy rains all along the roads chief surgeon ainsworth of the southern pacific system will arrive from the west in his private car friday morning from a general trip of inspection of all railroad hospitals between ogden and san francisco he is accompanied by chief nurse kelar and they will spend one day in this city master mechanic D J malone left on the early train for a business trip to southern pacific shops at montello and carlin the stockholders of the ogden union railway and depot company will m beet in superintendent mansons next tuesday morning and elect directors for the ensuing year ini i mediately afterwards the directors will elect officers of the company the impression exists that the old officers will all be chosen as follows president and general manager W H bancroft vice president fred J klesel general superintendent edward C manson secretary F N biess treasurer fred V S creaby of new york city cashier 0 A henry no changes in tha staff of themore the more important employed emp loyes is likely to oci cur inspector francis of the dining car service 0 the harraman Harrl man li at ogden on a trip over the various lines converging in this city A series of excursions from butte to ogden is being arranged by the passenger department of the oregon short line and the first of these will occur early in june A round trip rate of 15 has been announced and tickets are limited to june 28 professor brigg drigg superintendent of the state school for abe dea and blind at ogden iq arranging with passenger agent for special rates and chapel ones for pupils of that institution who will be sent home for the summer vacation railroad men kindly take charge of the afflicted when they are pent out on a trip alone and the helpless always arrive at the proper destination without trouble or unnecessary delay the rio grande management will issue a new lime card early in june for the summer season but the various changes are not obtainable at this time beginning next monday the rio grande company will place its scenic limited train in operation between denver and ogden and it is said the equipment will bo similar to used last summer |
