Show wmmmmmm LIVE MODELB Wow rnrnUk the llealfns for l?t-ta.Iljtt AilitrlUloc. New York Sun- Reproductions ot photographs from live models are superseding the designs ot draughtsmen draughts-men In certain kinds of advertising. This change mny come from the necessity ne-cessity for greater accuracy or In response re-sponse to a public demand. It It noticeable no-ticeable that the male models employed em-ployed for this purpose exhibit far better physical development than those of the othsr sex There Is one picture In particular used to call attention at-tention to an athletic device, In which a man's nude back, evidently from an untouched photographic negative neg-ative shows the physical perfection of an antique A similar presentation ot the back ot a modern woman would reveal emphatically the superiority ot the male figure. To exhibit the back of a modern woman with the same frankness would require considerable retouching of the photographic negative nega-tive to mako It presentable. The tiuth ot tho matter Is that the mod ern female figure has been so abused by the exigencies of fashion, the repression re-pression of lines here or their exaggeration exag-geration there, that It has become nothing more than an artificial construction con-struction upon which to drape clothing. cloth-ing. This Is exemplified In those advertisements ad-vertisements In which female models nro employed to display knit under farrornts, as compared to those that exhibit the fit and form ot corsets, gowns, etc. The lines ot the first. which are frankly displayed, suggest anything but grace and harmony, while those models used as a framework frame-work upon which to hang garment convey the Impression ot supple and graceful outline. French and English technical Journals use this form uf publicity as much as we do, but they give no evidence thst the foreign type of female figure Is In any way superior to ours. |
