The Flanders, 4- & driven by Evans, twas second. 4- 4- and the Flanders, driven by 4- 4- Tower, finished third. 4- 4- 4-. 44-4-4-4-444-4-4-444-44- Los Angeles, May 4, With prospects pros-pects excellent for the breaking of old and the establishing of new records, rec-ords, the fourth annual Santa Monica load raco, kuown as a "clasalc" in the automobile world, began at 1030 o'clock this morning, when the light and medium cars starred their speed contests with the froo-for-all event fololwing at 1 o'clock In the afternoon after-noon Scores of thousands of automobile enthusiasts, many of whom slept In their machines, lined the raco course foi more than eight miles at sunrlso this morning Their , number was constantly increased by those who could not start for the scono until today Tho light and medium car races were run at the same time, the machines getting away at intervals of fifteen seconds. Entries for the light car contest of 101 miles: Light Car Entries. Regal, Roscoo E. Anthony, driver: Flanders, Robert Ehns'; Flanders, Jack Tower, Ford, A. J. Charles. Bulck, Louis Nlkrent; Ford, Vincent Roecher, Reo, C. H. Krause; Maxwell, Max-well, George Joermann. A cash prize of $1000, 70 per ceut to tho winner, 20 per cent to the second sec-ond and 10 per cent to third, was t.o monetary magnet for this event.
