Show LABOR ARMY FOR HARVEST Chicago, Aug. 22. Thirty thousand laborers will be sent from Chicago In tho next Tveek to meet the demand of wheat growers in the west and northwest north-west for harvest workers, according to estimates' of immigrant agents for several railroad companies. The harvesters are being obtained from the large cities east of th.e Mississippi Mis-sissippi river, with Chicago as the shipping center. Heavy crops of wheat are said to be In danger of ruin from lack of help to harvest the grain. The demand for men Is said to be the greatest In years. One immigration immi-gration agent said that North Dakota Dako-ta alone wants 23,000 harveters. |
