Show $10,080 DRAFT IS PROVEN FORGERY Los Angeles, July 27. A forged draft for $10,000, purporting to bear the signature of R. C. Vandevort, cashier of the United States National bank of Aberdeen. Wash., and drawn on the First National bank of Seattle, was presented to the latter bank and to tho clearing house yesterday for payment nnd the forgery at once detected. de-tected. Tho draft was made payable to Boss and Phelps and had been Indorsed In-dorsed a second times by C. IT. Morse. It was sent to Seattle for collection by a Washington. D. C. bank, which is supposed to have cashed the draft. The printing of the draft showed that the blank had been especially made, and the difference differ-ence between the printing and the draft blank regularly used by the Aberdeen bank led to the detection. |
