Show COULD NOT FOOL TBE COUNTY BOARD The Weber county board of education educa-tion feel's that it has been "put upon," or is at least the victim of a would-be bunco game on the part of an eastern paper manufacturer who recently contracted to supply the local lo-cal schools with 11,520 composition books. The books arrived yesterday and Clerk L. H. Froerer soon ascertained that the quality of paper was far bo-low bo-low the standard which had been ordered or-dered through the McMillan Paper & School Supply company of Salt Lake. The clerk called up tho Salt Lake house and reported the discrepancy The manager would not admit tho fact until Froerer assured him that If ho thought he was dealing with "some of those Iron county selectmen" select-men" he had another guess coming. The McMillan man then looked Into the matter and decided that a blunder blun-der had been made in the shipment of the goods from tho eestern house. A telegram brought a reply from the cast that the foreman of the shipping department was to blame and, according to Froerer. the foreman fore-man has probably by this time passed the error down to the office boy or the stenographer's pet cat. At any rate, the 11,520 composition books will be returned at once to be replaced re-placed as soon as possible bv those ordered. |
