Joseph A. West, chief engineer of wthe Ogden Rapid Transit system, haa IKawarded two contracts which call for iEtho completion of the line in the can-,Lyon can-,Lyon to Huntavlllc. K Harry Bateman is given a mile of ft heavy rock work east of the Hermlt-QLage, Hermlt-QLage, including the blasting of a road JJhed through the cliffs on to the south Mfsldo of the Ogden river, between the j , Hermitage and Idlewild. At one point the cliffs must bo blasted away to a -height of 100 feet, Mr. Bateman is !, also to place the abutments for five ' :' bridges across the Ogden river and tributaries. Henry West has five miles of road on the east end of the line to the center of Huntsville. He and the Wheelwright Brothers were t,ho lowest bidders, but tho Wheelwrights, owlns to a rush of work on the Rio Grande, wore unable to give their Immediate attention to the canyon road, so tho award was made " to West. The awarding of these two contracts con-tracts assures the early construction of the Huntsville road. Joseph A. West, who has been do-votlng do-votlng all hlB time to the Ogden canyon can-yon work, goeB to Logan tomorrow, where he is building a bridge of So-fool So-fool span over the Logan river to be a part of the south extension of the Logan railway to Providence. This bridge is to bo similar to the one at the mouth of Ogden canyon. |
