Show STEALING OF HOSE ON LAWNS Eugene Bush, a tool sharpener and lawn mower repairer, pleaded guilty in police court this morning to having stolen a length or lawn hose froni a home on Washington avenue. When asked to explain his action, Bush sought refuge behind the fact that he had been drinking. He asserted as-serted that he had been working in Ogden for the past three years without with-out being arrested and it was suggested sug-gested by an officer that .bis record for that length of time probablv ought to be Investigated. It was charged that Bush had acted as an agent for a local hardware firm, selling hose and had been enabled to ascertain where 'householders kept their hose in convenient places for thieves. Bush declared that he had not heard of any hose thefts since last year when he understood that a Salt Lake thief had driven about Ogden's residence district with a wagon and had gathered a load of hose which was taken to Salt Lake for disposal. The judge stated that he had not heard of that particular incident, but was interested in it; in fact that he was interested in Bush in several ways and would, therefore, take his case under advisement until the prisoner's pris-oner's record could be thoroughly gon into. |
