President and General Manager Greene of the Tar Baby company was In the city yesterday from the Big Cottonwood section, and among tho Interesting bits of Information brought with him was tho fact that the Big Cottonwood canyon has boen gono over pretty thoroughly of late by surveying sur-veying forces In tho roported effort to outline a new drain tunnel, Mippoocdly by tho Michigan-Utah Consolidated interests. The surveyors have started at the old MaxQeld mlno and proceeded thence up the canyon to tho Michigan-Utah and other properties, a distance dis-tance of six or soven miles. The new tunnel would likely start abovo the Maxfield, about five miles bolow the old Utah Mines Coalition property, and driven from that distance to tho objective point Such a tunnel, St Is stated, would not have to wait for tho total flvo miles distance before getting into oro, ;i It !a llmirnt flinf onOUEh orO WOUld be encountered rn the way to meet all the expensos of tho work. Should thla tunnel be driven it will bo one of the greatest benefits over attained by that richly mlnorallzed section, for It would got a very great depth on demonstrated dem-onstrated oro bodies of tromondouc value. . In regard to the Tar Baby work, Mr. Greene saya ho bellovcs the company com-pany will bo shipping ore within sixty days.
