Show THE SPECIAL OFFER CLOSES TONIGHT AT 9 O'CLOCK P. M. - s f ,r ; -i-'.V- . MANY CANDIDATES QUALIFY FOR THE EXTRA V0TE5 All Old and New Subscribers Are Entitled to Votes Free, When Payments Are Made to Contestants, Collector or at The Standard Office GATHERING force and strength as it progresses, the big gift contest of The Standard continues to increase in public interest, and the people of this community are watching it with an eagerness that bids fair to help many of the contestants in the course of their campaigns. Among the candidates and their friends there is much discussion of plans for success and many novel and ingenious schemes will shortly be tried out, as each candidate has made up her mind to be a winner of one of the handsome prizes which will bo awarded on September 7th and is going to allow no one to thwart her plans for ultimate victorj'. Votes are pouring in upon the contest con-test manager in a steady stream and the nominations also continue to come in, massing their total to the volume of business being done by Uie contest department. Although tho contest has hardly got under un-der way, it has already assumed its proper place as the premier at-1 traction in Utah This proposition is legitimate, due to the number and value of the awards offered and the most liberal terms under which candidates are working to secure thorn. Many who failed to appreciate the magnitude of the affair at first are now talcing deep interest in the contest, and, desiring to see their friends competing, arc sending in their nams with numbers num-bers of votes to give them a start. And they are not letting the matter mat-ter rest here, for already the subscriptions are coming-in. proving that there are many who appreciate the advantages of early starting start-ing and system in their campaigns. No contest ever before held in this section of the state has aroused the amount of enthusiasm as this one. and we predict that the winners of these prizes will do so by a very small margin. This prediction is based upon the intense enthusiasm en-thusiasm being shown by candidates a i 1 their friends and supporters and the energy which has already been exhibited by numbers of the candidates. The amount of effort necessary to be winuer is ma- j terially decreased in viev of the number of contestants and the di-; vision of votes will be so great that contestants will be separated by but a few votes at any time, this condition of affairs offering an equal opportunity to each one to jump to the top -with but little effort. , There are forty-one prizes offered in tl,a Standard contest and every candidate entered has the opportunity of winning eleven prizes. SECOND PAYMENTS. Candidates who have taken sub scrlptlons for one, two or three months at Lho beginning of tho contest con-test should get these, subscribers to pay the rest of the year, so they are still considered new. It Is not too late for any candidate to enter and win tho capital prlc or any of the other prjzes offered. In contests the most effective work is generally dono during the last half, and now is the time to start. FUTURE SUBSCRIPTIONS. Contostsants may find in some cases friends who wish to help them in the contest by subscribing to the Standard, but are already taking a local paper Thlch Is paid for in advance ad-vance and, not desiring to receive more than one local daily paper in their homes, at the same time, the contest department has arranged to accept and issue votes on all such subscriptions, tho paper to start at any future date that tho subscribe. may designate. VOTES EASILY SECURED, The candidates who have redelved tho largest number of votes havo obtained them by payments upon subscriptions By the individual effort ef-fort of some of the candidates largo numbers of votes are being received each day, showing beyond contradiction contradic-tion that It is caBy for an energetic candidate to carry on a successful campaign: SUBSCRIPTION BALLOTS. All ballots issuod on subscription payments aro good any- tinie during the contest, and for this reason we do not deem it advisable to hold their subscriptions back. By having the paper started to the subscriber you will bo able to securo their coupons, which count for ten votes each. EVERYTHING FAIR AND EQUAL. Evory part and phaso of the contest con-test has been planned out iu the utmost ut-most fairness. The territory, both In the city and suburbs, has been divided divid-ed Into districts, so that caudldaten In one part of the city will not be comiretlng with more favorable con ditlons than candidates in anolhez part In the city interest is such thit friends of candidates call at tho office of-fice to learn how some friend is progressing and letters of inquiry are receied by mail Xew candidates are entering the contest and without a doubt It will be the greatest contest ever conducted by an Ogdcn newspaper. news-paper. Check over the list, see what you; friends are doing and who will probably prob-ably win the magnificent array of prizes. NEW ENTRIES. During tho past twoidas many new candidates have entered the contest with the firm determination of winning win-ning one of these excellcn: prizes There arc several Included In today t list for the first time. From this time on, for several days more, names will be added to the large gathorina.
