Show oo CONTESTS AT THE BALL PAM The athletic contests which were pulled off at Glenwood Baseball park yesterday were a success of the first magnitude, most of tho honors going' to members of th Salt Lake team. Leo Dressan, Cooley's general utility util-ity man, brought-home the bacon in six events. In the base running contest, con-test, Dressan covered the distance in fifteen seconds, defeating his nearest competitor by a fifth of one second. None of the entrants in the contest for accurate throwing were able to hit the target but Catcher Strlpp of the tCooleyites "came tbe nearest," and was declared the winner Dressan pulled down first prize in the bunt and run contest, making tho distance to first base in three seconds, sec-onds, according to the tlrae-keeper, but as this is the standing world's record, Umpire Frary declared that "there must havo been some error. Erlckson of the Mackmen won tho fungo hitting contest against all competitors, com-petitors, Schlmpff threw the ball 345, feet in the disttnee-throwing, and Dressan won handily In the 100-yard dash against a considerable field. oo |
