Shurt-liff Shurt-liff was appointed to the position by President Theodore Roosevelt in the winter of 190S and took his position February 2, 11)00, succeeding William Gbsmaiin. His icrrn of office expires February 2, 1013. Piesident Taft did not see fit to change from Mr Roosevelt's Roose-velt's selection and tho question now arises whethei hcwi!l net re-appoint Mr. Shurtliff at the expiration of his term ot office.
