Show SALTlAKE PIONEER MINING MAN IS CALLED BY DEATH. Salt Lake, June 17. Francis Steer Fox, for the last sixty years a prominent promi-nent business man of the western part of the United States, died at his home, 1212 Indiana avenue; In this city at 10 o'clock yesterday forenoon, after an Illness of three years, from general debility He was S4 years old. The funeral will be held In Park City, where Mr. Fox resided for many years. Mr. Fox was born In Exeter, Devonshire, Devon-shire, England, November 14, 1828, and was brought to the United States by his parents when an Infant. His family settled at Baltimore, whore his father died a few years later. In 1847 Mr. Fox went to Cincinnati, where he was Joined later by his mother. In J852 he crossed the plains with an ox team train to the gold fields of California. Cali-fornia. He left the train at Spring Garden ranch, In Plumas county, California, Cal-ifornia, August 25, 1852, and began mining on Nelson's croek, seven, miles distant. |
