Show oo NAMES APRIL 15 AS ARBOR DAY. Governor William Spry Issues Proclamation Proc-lamation According to Provisions Pro-visions of Law. SALT LAKE. March 26. By a proclamation issued this morning, Governor William Spry designates Monday, April 15, as Arbor day The state's chief executive recommends that this day be devoted to tho planting plant-ing of trees, shrubs and vines, for the adornment of public and private grounds. "Pursuant to the provisions of law, and In accordance with a time-honored custom, it is my pleasant duty to i again remind tho people of Utah of tho approaching annual Arbor day observance and to recommend that-Monday, that-Monday, April 15, 1912, bo devoted to tho planting of trees, shrubs and vines for the adornment of our public grounds and streets and the beautifying beautify-ing and improvement of our private places of abode. "The returning seasons do but add to the keen enjoyment of tho keep ing of Arbor day, and each year wo find a more general, unrestrained observance ob-servance of this beautiful sprlngtimo custom. "Practical and useful in its nature, the custom is none the less Glled with subtle suggestion of life's deepest mystery; and it is In its value as an Inspiration to the nobler and higher things of life that tho day appeals with such irresistible force. Teeming with practical lessons in the responsibilities respon-sibilities that attach to the care of living things, In tho obligations that go with possession, In the Joy of beautiful surroundings, the day stands alone as the most suggestive of all our national observances.
