Show H BABIES AND THEATERS. B - H "While it is generally admitted that free speech is an inherent K right, and, in fact, a clause of our constitution, makes that right in- Hl violate, yet there are certain limitations. For instance, no sane man H would contend that any citizen would have the right to stand per- H sistently in public places and utter loud and boisterous language H which would disturb the peace of others. H And so it is with babies at theaters. There are some who be- H lieve that children in arms should be excluded from such places. H And we confess that there are only a few things more annoying to H the person who has paid his good money for a theater ticket, than H to be seated in the immediate vicinity of a child too young to ap- H preciate what is going on from the stage, who constantly babbles and H wails while the theater patron is straining his ears above the din to M catch the words of the actors. "We are aware that many mothers H cannot afford to employ a nurse to care for their little ones while H they go to the theater.'' But there should be some relief. In some H of the larger cities the theater managers employ a nurse to care H for infants in a secluded part of the building during performances. Hj Such an arrangement in Ogden would be appreciated. |
