Show HE LOST HIS BED AND 1 BOTTLE Charles Roger, alias Charles Old-folks, Old-folks, a colored man, is bplng hold at tho city prison on a charge of stealing bed clothing bolonging to John Navo, a Mexican. Rogers strenuously denies de-nies tho charge. According to the negro's story, the Mexican trnve him his bedding which ho had been using at one of the grading grad-ing camps and told him to fell It and buy whiskey. Rogors says that he look tho bedding to a second-hand store and secured fifty cents In cash, with which he purchased tho whiskey as directed On his return to the place whore he had agreed to meet Navo, the Mexican was not there While waiting for the return of tho Mexican, Rogers whlled away the time by sipping from the bottle. Ho finally tired of waiting for Navo and left. Tho Mexican got none of the lfquor, but, according to the colored col-ored man. it was Navo's fault for not bolng at tho meeting place. Tho Mexican denies the negro's storv and claims that Rogers Blolo the bedding and sold it without his knowledge. When arrested, Rogers was still carrying part of tho drunk which he accumulated by the sale of the bedding. He also carried a very ugly looking razor. The case Is being be-ing investigated by the police. |
