Show RESORT NEAR THE TOWN OFJMMSAN To convert the littlo town of Mor-1 gan and the ontire Morgan valley into the beauty spot, not only of Utah but alBo of tho whole intormountain country, coun-try, is the plan of Mrs. M. L. Brain, her son, Elmer C. Brain, and W. A. Buchanan of Chicago, and others. A power plant Is already being bulk on tho Hard Scrabblo grounds and hotel at Morgan. It is estimated that tho enterprise will cost from ?100,000 to 115.000, and if more is needed to make an ideal resort and hotel it Is already provided for by Chicago capitalists. cap-italists. They expect to obtain tho necessary neces-sary charter and within a few days form tho corporation which will be known as the Como Springs Light & Development company. Elmer C Brain will be general manager and will tako up hla residence at Morgan In about a week, where he will personally per-sonally manage all of tho preparations prepara-tions and construction. Mrs. Brain, who is the chief promoter pro-moter of tho enterprise, first saw the little valley in May of this year and realized at once that it was an ideal place for a first-class hotel and resort She at first looked upon It as merely a resort for well-to-do eastern east-ern pcoplo, but since mentioning her plans to somo of the leading people here, however, she says thnt sho realizes that the hotel will be a great thing for Utah. Ono hundred and twenty acres of land have already been secured, as have also fifty-year franchises for tho water and light systems. Tho land includes in-cludes forty acro3 of woodland and Como lake, which covers about eight acres, and Is traversed by the Weber river, which is renowned throughout the whole country as an Ideal fishing stream. The hotel will bo sltuatod on a bench which overlooks the ontire valley, and the present plans aro to hao bungalows scattorcd all through tho beautiful wooded valley. The hotel Itself will not bo of immense im-mense proportions on 'account of the plan to construct bungalows for those who desire an ideal summer resort, but it will be modern in every particular par-ticular and probably superior to anything any-thing of its kind in tho country. It will bo of decided southern stylo of architecture, with broad verandns and everytning conauciYe to comiort mai the most exacting guest ccild desire. de-sire. From the powor plant that Is already in course of construction, and which will cost approximately $30,000, nn abundance of pewer will be received re-ceived and the whole valley will bo lighted. All of the arrangements will be completed com-pleted within a week or ten days. Tho money is all within reach -and tho promoters are persons of experience. Mrs Brain is woll known throughout through-out tho middle west as a successful success-ful promoter, and the Como project is no first experiment with her. Actlvo work on tho grounds and hotel will begin be-gin soon and it is expected that tho resort and hotel will be ready for guests early next spring. When seen Mrs. Brain said: "I am in no hurry about advertising our hotel. We expecb'have it ready for occupancy in the early spring, but our main idea will be to mako It I the best place possible. Nature has : done her sharo toward making tho I place Ideal and money will not be ' spared by us. Tho hotel and the i bungalow that wo will build will be strictly first class in every particular and fitted for the best people. Tho medicinal watprs of tho lake are a feature, but we are not building a j sanitarium. , "Yes, we expect the place to pay and pay well, but, we do not expect to get our money hack In a hurry. The place Is just what your city wants and what a great humber of eastern people have been peeking for a long time Our -plan is to made It Ideal i and we are not one bit worried about I the money Invested. Of course, wo j know what the power plant will do, - as we have heard tho demands from the people in tho valley for lights, but ' if tho resort and hotel pay expenses during the next two yoars we will bo well satisfied." |
