Show ENGINE CRASHES INTO AUTOMOBILE ' Dr. Wherry and Party Have a Miracu-lous Miracu-lous Escape from Almost Certain Cer-tain Death. SALT LAKE, Oct. 1 Dr. A. C. Wherry, Mrs. Oliver W. Dailey and her little son, Earl Dailey, of 875 West Second South Btreot, escaped death almost al-most by a miracle at tho railway crossing of the Denver & Rio Grande at Sixth West and Second South streots shortly after 9 o'clock last night, when the automobile of Dr. Wherry, which they occupied, was caught botwoen two trains of box cars moving parallel to each othor, while a third train of box cars, being shifted between them, was backod into the machine. At the 'wheel of the automobile wbb Dr. Wherry. He says that there was no flagman at tho crossing to warn him. He drovo ahead until he found hlmsolf directly In front of -a moving freight train. He stopped his automobile automo-bile to wait for tho train to pass. It stopped and meanwhile a second train immediately behind him slowly backod over the crossing, .preventing' him from either golnj ahead or backing back-ing the automobile. The machine had to stand on a track between the sots of tracks on which the trains wero that had hemmed h,Im in. Dr. Wherry had become alarmod and was waiting for either of the trains to clear tho crossing, when a third train, backing, came down the j track on which ho had been forced ; to stand.
