Show LOCAL SOCIALIST 10 IEHIECHBE The National Socialist Lyceum bureau bu-reau brings to Ogden next Sunday the 8ocond number of the lecture courso which was announced some time ago by tho local branch of tho Socialist party. N. A. Richardson, chairman of tho California state central committee commit-tee and a candidate recently for mayor of San Bernardino, comes to this city to deliver a lecture on "Why Things Happen to Happen." Mr. Richardson has for many years past been a prominent worker In the Socialist movement He has been a member of tho national committee and Is tho author of several recognized works on Socialism Ills method Is not that of, the spellbinder, but rather that of tho teacher. For over fifteen years he was principal or superintend-6nt superintend-6nt of schools In his home city, San Bernardino, Cal., and at the time ho made the race for mayor was defeated by only six votes. Tho lecture to be given by Mr. Richardson promises to be one of great Interest, as he explains some of the mvstorlous things which Just "happen to happen." Ho will bo heard at the First Methodist church at 3 o'clock next Sunday afternoon. Fox, a slate organizer or-ganizer who Is making his first lour of the state with a motion picture outfit, gave an Illustrated lecture at the First Methodist church last evening. even-ing. Mr. Fox talked on the subject of "My Country," the address treating with the power and growth of patriotism. patriot-ism. During tho course of the lecturo three films of pictures and Co especlal- ly prepared slides were shown. These pictures and slides deal with tho subject sub-ject of tho address and Illustrate many points made by the spoaker. The state organizer Is an eloquent and ontortalnlng speaker and produces the statements and statistics from tho histories of both America and Europe to prove his assertions. A number of the pictures Bhown during the lecturo deal with battles of the Civil war and other dcelslvo encounters. There was a fair-sized crowd at the entertainment last evening Mr Fox will repeat his lecture this evening In the basement assembly room of the Methodist church at S o'clock. |
