Thrown into the ditch by spreading rnlls, train No. 3, known as the "Oregonian," on I the Great Northern, killed at least I five persons and Injured a score of others early today, two and a half miles south of Sharon, Stee'.e county. General Manager Gruber's car was attached, and Ills car and the observation obser-vation car were the only ones to remain re-main on the rails. The fatalities occurred oc-curred in the dining car nnd the bodies bod-ies were burned by fire which originated orig-inated in the debris. With tho thermometer registering 12 below zero and with a twelve-mile wind blowing, the passengers and trainmen suffered before they could be given nld. Tho general manager's car and the observation car were both transferred Into temporary hospitals, while some of tho victims were taken to farm houses. Shaon citizens aided in the rescue. General Manager Gruber's car and I the observation car were saved on ! account of being at the roar of the train.
