The Identity bf the sunken ship Is not known. Tho omsdel's attention was attracted to the distressed ship soon after niqhtfall when tho vessel began be-gan sending up rockets showing that help was wanted. Sho had not gone far, however, before ahe had six or seven holes In her hull which allowed much water to onter tho hold. About midnight the rockets from the other vessel stopped and soon afterward her lights wero seen to disappear beneath be-neath the waves When daylight broke those on board the Romsdel were unablo to find any trace of the sunken vessel. For three days the Romsdel was a prisoner In the Ice. She finally worked work-ed her way out with six holes In her hull and her propeller blades broken. |
