Show URGES USE OF k NEW GRAIN Nephl, Sept. 21. Superintendent "P. V. Cardon of tho Nephi substation is making arrangements to carry out a test of the much-talked-of improved winter emmer. Mr Cardon, when asked about the grain, said: "Dry farmers will be Interested in llnowlng that th.e Nephi substation Is preparing to make a thorough test of Piofcssor Buff man's Improved winter emmer For several jears past the station has been growing emmer of a similar nature and this year It yielded yield-ed 57.3 bushols per acre. The improved im-proved typo, however, Is said to yield at a much highor rate, it being represented rep-resented as having yielded as high as 185 bushels per acre on tho Buffum farm at Worland," Wyo It is the deslro of" the state and government "to know more of this grain, which, If If should yield as represented, would be a very valuable valu-able crop on the dry farms, as It is an excellent stock feed. For this reason, tho station ,has received a bushel of seed through Prof L. A Morrill of the state, and several pounds from the government. The seed, this year is selling for $10 per bushel. |
