Show FORMER GOVERNQR OF CALIFORNIA IN A FRAUD Seattle, May 29. Claimants to coal lands in the Houghton group, Alaska, including former Governor James N Glllett of California and his wife, former for-mer Congressman James MacLachlan of Pasadena, Cal., a member of the national monetary commission, Henry T. Oxnard, president of the American Beet Sugar company, have been notified noti-fied by the register of the Juneau land office to appear before him within thirty days and show cause why their entries should not be reported to the commissioner of the general land office of-fice for cancellation or rejection. Estimates Es-timates of the value of the lands range from twenty-five to fifty million mil-lion dollars. Charges have been filed by a special spec-ial agent of the geueral land 6ffico against each of the claims, which number 39. Land office officials charge that all tho original locators woro dummies. |
