A masked man, armed, with a revolver, held up and robbed passengers in a vestlbuled. coach attached to westbound train No. 27 on tho Big Four railroad, a few miles east of here tonight. After taking tak-ing about $300 in cuBh, the robber dropped off the reir platform as the train slackened speed toenter tho city. Several shots were fired at him ,as he ran, but he escaped. Attention of the fifty men and women wo-men In the coach was attracted to the front vestibule .when they heard tho crash of glass, at Selma, six miles east. A man then slipped his arm through the broken glass of the door, unlatched It, and entered. "Hands up, everybody!" he shouted. And he then added, "Come forward, everybody; shell out." "Only cash, not jewelry," said the robber as ho passed among the men. Ten of them had contributed their money, when an electric light, marking the edge of Muince, flashed in the car windows and the robber, quitting 1 his work, ran through the car and jumped from the train. |
