Ryart, the deposed Catholic priest, and his wife, was instigated In the county clerk's oftico Wednesday afternoon, when Mrs. Susan Ryan fi.ed a petitlonjfor divorce The petition relates that the purtios were married at Colorado Springs, Colorado, January 30, 1909, and that since that time the plaintiff says she has been u dutirul and faithful wife. Mrs. Ryan says that for the last year or more" Mr Ryan has been unkind un-kind and cruel to her. that he has ut-torly ut-torly failed to provide her the necessaries neces-saries of life and that during that time he haa caused her great mental and bodily distress. Sho savs that ou February 7. 1909, at Denver, Colorado, Mr Ryan knocked knock-ed her down lth his clinched fist rnd thnt ho cursed and swore at her and called her vile names. The plaintiff states filrther that on March ?. 1909, the xletondant beat her and used bad language toward her. and that during the past year he has been ou habitual drunkard, so much bo, that It Is impossible for her to live with him. Mrs. Ryan asks for divorce, costfl of Bult, $50 attorney fees, $20 a month alLmony and the restoration of her cniden name, Susan Moran. It will be remembered that James Jtyan was a Catholic prlset of Colorado Colo-rado and that ho became enamored of Susan Moran, a resident of this citv, and married her. Mrs. Ryan returned to her homo in this city a little moro than a year ago, and, a lew months later, Mr. Ryan made his appearanco In tho city. lie persisted in visiting the home of his wife and he urged that she return to him She refused, however, how-ever, aud his persistency led him Into trouble with his wife's father and brother A fight took place near tho Moran residence, the result being that Ryan was arrested and lodged in Jail charged with disturbing the peace Ho remained ln tho city for a number of weeks, during which timo ho endeavored endeav-ored to bring about a reconciliation and get a settlement regarding oor-tnin oor-tnin property interests ho claimed eclated ec-lated between himself and his wifo. |
