Breeden of Salt Lake, forrqer attorney at-torney general of Utah, for appointment appoint-ment as United Stitcs judge in the Panama canal zone There is a vacancy va-cancy In that court, and Senator Smoot strongly urged Mr. Breeden for the place. President Taft has offered tho position to another man but if he does not accept, it will go to Mr. Brecdon. The judgeship ranks with a place on the United States district bench, as does that in Porto Rico. It is a desirablo place for one who is willing to make his homo on tho Isthmus, and conditions havo been made so favorable by The sanitation sani-tation methods of the government that it Is considered no hardship to reside there.
