According to information roceivetJ by the local police department and the county attorney's office, Pyper wooed and wed a girl at Greeley. As a result re-sult of this union there were two child-rod. child-rod. It Is alleged that Pyper, saying he was going to Canon City, Colo., to secure employment, deserted his wife and children In 1908. It is alleged that February 22, 1910, Pyper married mar-ried a Canon City girl and removed with his newpWife to Salt Lake. Mrs.' Pyper No. 2, it Is alleged, received a letter a short time ago addiessed to Pyper from "one 6f his friends. Sbe I says that she opened the letter and among other things Jherejn written I were the words, "You had better get out; they are after you." Another letter let-ter addressed to Pyper was opened by Mrs. Pyper No. 2 a few days after this, which read to the effect that the first wife was about to institute pro. ceedings for divorce. This was more than the alleged second wife could bear up under and she explained her position to the county attorney. It was corroborated corroborat-ed by the authorities at Canon City. A message was received from Canon City Instructing the local authorities to "hold Pyper and saying that he would be prosecuted in Canon City Pyper refused to discuss the case, but said that he would fight extradition. nn |
