After spending nearly a week in Chicago conferring with Julius Kruttschnltt, director or maintenance, and the man who spends money for tho Harrlman system, W H Bancroft, vice president and genoral managor of the Orogon Short L?ne railway; F. H. Knickerbocker, his assistant, as-sistant, and Carl Stradley, chief engineer en-gineer of tho road, returned yesterday noon In private car 1903. The officials discussed planB for the double-tracking of the road between Omaha and San Francisco in time for the Panama exposition in 1915. The numerous branch lines now in course of construction and thoso already planned In Idaho and Oregon were also talked over. It is more than likely that tho O. S. L between Salt Lako and Portland will also he double-tracked. double-tracked. Tho portion between Salt Lake and Ogden is rapidly nearlng completion, as is also the stretch from Pocatcllo ! to McCammon. Double-tracking Is being be-ing done from Pocatcllo twelve miles west to MIchand. This will probably be extended seventy-five miles to Minidoka. Mini-doka. At Minidoka the south branch Is being built westward. It will make a sort of double traok, as the south branch will be but a tow miles below the main lino and parallol lo It. On both sides of Granger double-tracking is being done.
