All of the plans hare been completed by the engineering en-gineering department and some of the material necessary for the underground under-ground passages has arrived A hole twelve feet deep Is being dug on the west side of the passenger yard In the line of tho subway to ascertain as-certain the condition of the earth at that dopth. At noon today the men engaged In this excavation had reached reach-ed a depth of ten feet without striking water It was feared by the engineers that tho work of excavation would bo made more difficult by the presence of water, but this fear is likely to be allayed by the condition of the cxperl mental hole. The subway will be for the uso of passengers only Heavy plank surface ways for the use of trucks during the building of the subway are being laid. After tho completion of the subway, he surface sur-face ways will be reconstructed of concrete.
