Show COLD WAVE - IN OGDEN VALLEY -s. Thomas Stoker of Huntsvllle states that last night was the coldest night of the season at Huntsvllle. The snow is eight inches deep In tho valley and, at the head of Beaver Cieok, It is three feet deep. 'The thermometor at Huntsvillfl registered 20 degree below be-low zero. At 9 a. m. It was 12 degrees above zero- ip Ogdcn and. about tho samo at the Utah Light & Railway company's power plant, but at the Ogden canyon sanitarium, not more than two miles from the plant, the thermometer registered reg-istered 10 degrees below zero. At tho power dam. just above tho Hermitage Hermi-tage In Ogden canyon, it is reported that the mercury was 14 degrees below be-low the zero point this morning Manager Thomas of the Ogden Ice company states that, 'while the temperature tem-perature at the company's ice pond north of Ihe city registered two do grees above zero, no Ice formed on the pond during the night. The thickness thick-ness of the Ice last evening was five Inches and it was the samo this morning morn-ing when measurement was made. This can be accounted for, sas Mr. Thomas, only upon the theory that at the place where the pond is situated, situ-ated, the ground is filled with moisture mois-ture and with the surfaco completely thawed. It creates a winmth that prevents pre-vents Ice-niakimr In Ogden the temperature started to drop at 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon after-noon and continued downward until 9 o'clock this morning Thursday night was one of the coldest nights of the season. |
