Show mmm at SOCIAL GATHERING About two hundred of the Scotch residents of this city, members of the Caledonian society of Ogden, gathered gather-ed at 'Union Labor hall lust night and spent a very delightful social evening. even-ing. The affair was really in honor of Dnvld 0. McKay and he was presented pre-sented with a large picture of Robert Burns. It was tendered as a token of tho esteem In which Mr. McKay Is held by hs Scottish brothers and sisters and also In appreciation of his services ,)n tendering tho excellent excel-lent oration at tho recent Burns anniversary an-niversary celebration. The program last evening Included songs, recitations and dnnces and was followed by a dance. The opening address of the evening was made by Chief William N. Purdie, who presided. presid-ed. After two or three sougs James Drysdale, on behalf of the society, presented Mr. McKay with the large picture of the Scottish poet. Mr. McKay Mc-Kay responded with a half hour's tul'k in which ho told with characteristic character-istic Scotch humor and entertainment of his trip through the highlands or Scotland, . His graphic descriptions of scenes in dear old Scotland brought back fond -memories to many who lert their native land years ago. Mr. McKay Mc-Kay expressed his appreciation of the high honor which had been beHtowed upon him by the members of the society. so-ciety.
