Tho largo poles in the center ol Washington avenue, between the river bridge and Twenty-eighth streot, now being removed from the thoroughfare, have been used jointly by the telephone tele-phone company and tho Utah Light & Railway company, most of the wires on the polos having been those of thi telophono company. Mr. Madson states that the placing of cables underground for the reception recep-tion of' tho telephone wires in the paved district of the city has cost the company much money, bu it is looked look-ed on as a profitable expenditure of money and tho means of placing tba Bell system on a metropolitan anJ up-to-date basis. no |
