In 1S99 tho number fas 91,201. , This diminution Is thc more noticeable notice-able In tho wealthier districts There I are six arrondlssments in which the f number of horses has slightly In- f creased, including the Twelfth, Thlr- JJ teenth. Fourteenth. Fifteenth and $ Nineteenth. In these arrondlssments t are situated the great public work 1$ contractors, who use as many horses IP as over. In tho Ninth arrondissment ! the numbor of horses has risen from ; ' 1,552 to 10,30, but this remarkable Increase is due to the fact that the ' horses of one of the largest cab com- -panics aro counted In this arrondiss- i ment, which was not tho case in 1S99.
