Show rreston higni rodeo Hr A i in 1h Cowboys, cowgirls, horses and the colorful regalia much in evidence on Preston streets now proclaim the approaching night rodeo and horse show to be held in Preston, August 15, 16 and IT. The rodeo will be presented on, the last two evenings while the opening night will he devoted to the horse show. Daytime attractions attract-ions will be the Franklin County Fair activities and displays. During the five years the night rodeo has been presented it ha gained in popularity. To aecom modate the increasing crovwtfl which attend each year, t!io officials have completed bleaclu ra to seat an additional 100 0 spo& i tators, according to E. A. Crockett, Crock-ett, chairman. Under the direction of M. M. Reeves, plans for Preston's third annual horse show indicatu a ' larger show than that of the past two years. New box stalls and .stables have been constructed to house more horses. Entry classes , this year will provide opportunity for all owners of saddle liorsos to enter them. Classes are listed as fellows:. Shetland ponies, jumpers, halter ladies' three-gaited, novice stock .horse, three-gaited open, professional profess-ional stock horses, novice five-gaited," five-gaited," ladies" western pleasura, fine harness, matched pairg-both. eastern and western, Cache Valley; pleasure horses and five-gaited open. The rodeo queen of 1940 and her attendants will be chosen Monday. Russell Crockett, chairman chair-man in charge, said any girl from southeastern Idaho, may enter the queen contest to compete for the $4 0 to be given the queen, or for one of the $15 prizes to bo given to each of the two attendants. attend-ants. Out-of-Preston judges will choose the queen, who will be judged on horsemanship, western attire and her horse. Contracts have been let to tha Hillside Rodeo Company to furnish furn-ish the rodeo livestock: Mr. and Mrs. Monte Montana and company, Carol Henry and her trick horse, "Sweetheart"; Frank and Bernica Dean, Trick riders and ropers;' and Elmer Holcomb and his educated ed-ucated mule. Committees are working under the following chairmanships: E. A. Crockett, general chairman; M. M. Reeves, horse show; Ralph Strub, finance; Russell Crockett, queen; and Harold L Hawks, I parade. Both the rodeo and tha I horse show are projects of the j Preston chamber of commerce. |
