Show Registration Scheduled Monday at Utah State; Procedure Given t All Students to Meet President Franklin S. Harris During Day Final preparations were being completed today for opening of fall quarter at Utah State Agricultural college col-lege Monday, when students begin registration for a new term. For the first time in 20 years, a new president will . greet the students. Dr. Franklin S. Harris, director of the institution since July 1, will be starting his first s'school year as president. He was--I named to succeed Dr. E. G. Peter-I Peter-I son, who is now president emeritus of the school. Preliminary indications show that about 2000 students will enroll at the school this year, including many returned war veterans. One of the more serious problems is to provide adequate housing for all students. Two major changes will he in. augurated in registration procedure pro-cedure Monday, according to W. H. Bell, resigtrar. New students I will obtain registration- forms in I the college auditorium, while j former students will receive forms I at the registrar's office in the main building. The "first come, -first served" plan will be carried out in all registration procedure, he said. Mr. Bell emphasized the necessity neces-sity of all former students who are planning to return to school, ' to notify the registrar's office in advance so there will be adequate time to prepare copies of credits. The office also will make up a registration book for each student. Unlike other years, following distribution of registration forms, old and new students will go to the president's office where they will be introduced to Dr. Harris. After filling out other forms, they, will proceed to the office of the dean of students in the north wing of the main building for interviews with Dr. Daryl Chase, dean of students. , and, Mrs. lone Bennion. dean of women. Students then will go to the main reading room of the college library where they will fill out registration forms and have them signed by deans of the respective schools. These deans will act as registration advisors for all students, stud-ents, instead of faculty advisers as in past years. After forms are sectioned, fees will be paid at the secretary's office in the main building. New students must make an appointment appoint-ment for a physical examination and all male students must check with military offices at the ROTC table for information about military mili-tary training. Climax of registration day activities ac-tivities will be a party in honor of 'eshmen a.nd new students during the evening, according to Student Body President Dan Ludlow. |
