RECEIVE NEW BOOKS The public library announces the purchase of a large shipment of books among which we find biographies bi-ographies of early church leaders, lea-ders, pioneer stories, histories of Utah and the West, overland stage mail and express companies, and full sets of L. D. S. church histories. his-tories. "The Life Story of Birgham Young," written by Susie Young Gates, a daughter, in collaboration with Leah D. Widstoe, we see him I first as a farmer in Vermont, then ' as a carpenter and painter. This biography is noteworthy, both as a historical record and as a portrait por-trait of a great religious leader. "Brigham Young, the man and his Work," by Preston Nibley. The author had access to much material including unpublished letters and writings of Brigham Young. "Brigham Young the Colonizer," Coloni-zer," by Milton R. Hunter, is really the story of the brave people peo-ple who under Brigham Young built an empire hi a dreary sagebrush sage-brush valley. "Brigham Young, or Utah and her Founders," by Edward W. Tullridge. This book was written in 1876. We are fortunate in pos-essing pos-essing this copy as the book is out of print. Our pioneer books make a rare colection, such as "Rocky Mountain Moun-tain Adventures." by Edward Bryant. Bry-ant. The days of 48-49. "Reminscences," by L. O. Little-field. Little-field. "Pioneer Stories," by Preston Nibley, a record of true experiences. experi-ences. ' "Pioneering the West," by Howard Egan, a pioneer of 1847 whose diary is written in detail of early scenes and people. "William Clayton's Journal," a daily record of the journey of the original company of Mormon pioneers. "The Story of Utah." by John Henry Evans, treats of the first white settlers, the comparative Isolation Iso-lation expansion and development and statehood. It is well illustrated. illustra-ted. "The U. S. Soldiers Invade U-tah," U-tah," by Cecil McGartn is a most comprehensive history. 1 "Rise and Fall of Nauvoo," by b. H.
