Show s Dean of Women Named at USAC Fern Starr, a 1940 graduate of Utah State Agricultural college, has been appointed acting dean of women at USAC and will assume duties Monday when fall quarter opens, Dr. E. G. " Peterson, p'resi-dent, p'resi-dent, announced today. Miss Starr, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Starr, St. George, replaces Dean Caroline M. Hendricks, Hen-dricks, who is on sabattical leave studying at the University of California. The new dean is a graduate of Dixie high school and Dixie junior jun-ior college and attended USAC on a Union Pacific scholarship. She was a member of Phi Upsilon Omi-cron. Omi-cron. home economics honorary; Phi Kappa Phi, senior scholastic honorary.; home economics club and several other organizations. She was home economics instructor in-structor at Hurricane high school one year and Provo Senior high school two years, where she was dean of girls. During the past year she has been studying at Oregon Ore-gon State College, Corvallis. Miss Starr as dean of women will be supervisor of the women's residence hall on the campus. She was one of the first coeds to stay in that hall when it was opened in 1938. She 'also will act . as instructor in-structor of foods and nutrition in the home economics department. |
