Show Fire Prevention Important To Nation Fire prevention Week from October Oc-tober 4 to 10 emphasizes the need for fire prevention consciousness on the part of every Utahn. J. Whitney Floyd, forester for the 'Utah State Agricultural college Extension Service declared Tues- day. 'Because this fall is such a dry season fire hazards are not gone even though the cool fall nights are here and are helping to cut down the possible hazards," Forester Fores-ter Floyd explained. Farmers whose haystacks and stored crops are in the vicinity of forests, brush and dry stubble can still plow fire guards to advantage, the extensionist said. He urged advanced caution to hunters and field workers in areas of dry vegetation ve-getation to be especially careful in preventing fires. "Citizens should make themselves themsel-ves voluntary fire wardens and report quickly and efficiently the iocation and nature of aUftres Professor Floyd stated. Several fires, which may have become dis-evented dis-evented dur- astro'us have been prevented during dur-ing the past months because of the quick action of citizens."
