Show Sugar Still Available For Canning Due to the warm and mild fall weather prevailing in Cache Valley, Val-ley, much fruit is still available for canning purposes. The Cache County War Price and Rationing Board believes that all available fruit should be conserved. Consequently, Conse-quently, the period for receiving applications for home canning has been reopened, O. Guy Cardon, ohairman, announced today. Applications Appli-cations will be received daily at the office of the board at 124 South Main Street, Logan, until the home canning season is completed. com-pleted. Applicants should have available for the registrar the following information in-formation when they make their application for additional sugar: (1) Amount of previous allotments in pounds; (2) Number of quarts of fruit which they have canned this year to date; (3) Number of quarts of fruit which they estimate will complete their canning for this year. The only restrictions now on sugar for canning purposes are that sugar be used on a rationing basis, this is, one pound of sugar to each four quaxts of fruit to be canned with no allotment being made for making jams, jellies, preserves, pre-serves, or for canning vegetables, and that the applicant's request be reasonable, Mr. Cardon stated. |
