Show Five Hundred ! Train for Secretarial Posts Five hundred students at the Utah State Agricultural college secretarial science classes it was announced Saturday by Dr. W. L. Wanlass, dean of the school of commerce. Dr. Wanlass commenting on a report prepared by Professor L-Mark L-Mark ' Neuberger, reviewed--the steady growth of this department, during the past six years, and said that the present enrollment represents an increase of six per cent over the fall quarter of last year. There has been a good demand during the past eight years for stenographers, ofice workers, and business teachers and the National defense program has greatly increased in-creased the need for trained people peo-ple in these fields. The college now offers One, two and a four-year four-year cirriculums in secreatrial science sci-ence and office practice work to meet the regular employment demands de-mands in this field and to cope with the increasing demands of the present emergency. Dr. Wanlass concluded by saying say-ing that all surveys show that there is a growing demand for men stenographers and typists. There is no better way for an ambitious youth to learn the workings work-ings of a business than by taking dictation and the promotion opportunities op-portunities via' this route are ey-cellent. ey-cellent. The army has, also, announced an-nounced that it expects to be shorthanded in skilled workers in 29 important jobs one of them being stenographer-typists. |
