Show New Extension Director Begins Work ( : W. W. OWENS W. W. Owens, member of the. Utah State Agricultural college Extension Service- staff for more than 27 years, will take office Thursday as new director of the service. He succeeds William Peterson Pe-terson who has served since 1924. He replaced William Peterson, director since 1924, who retires as director emeritus. Director Owens was appointed to his new position June 18 at a meeting of the USAC board o trustees held at La Sal. In outlining his policy, Director Owens states that he "will keep informed as to the needs and problems prob-lems of the rural people of the state, through their organizations, through meetings and personal contacts out in the counties, and through county agents, home agents and specialists all of whom spend a large part of their time out with the people. "Will try to direct the efforts of the Extension staff toward the solution of these problems presented pre-sented by the people. Will draw heavily upon the Experiment station, the college, and the U. S. department of Agriculture for facts which will be helpful in rural homes, on farms and ranches. ranch-es. "Will cooperate with other agencies working in the interest of agriculture. Will look to the president of the college, the board of trustees and the Federal ' Extension office for guidance on policy." |
