Show Annual 4-H Canning Rules Announced "For More and Better Canning in 1940" is the title of a folder announcing the 12th annual contest con-test to which canning clubsters of the state are now eligible through the acceptance of the state director of extension. The folder shows a photo of last year's canning champions taken while at the last December Decem-ber National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, to which they won trips, and gives detailed rulc3, awards and objectives of this year's competition. Club leaders may obtain copies through their county extension or club agent. Two state winners pictured in the folder with their canning projects are credited with assisting assist-ing 4 4 farm women in learning to use a pressure cooker and to can according to a budget. Such a plan adequately provides the family with the quantity and variety ot foods necessary to carry through to the next season. Recognition of outstanding girls in canning projects is provided in 1940 in three wayB gold medals for county winners, Clnb Congress trips for state winners, and to the top five of these each a $20 0 scholarship, all again pro vided through the Kerr Glass Cor poration as an aid to better rural living. |
