Show Speakers' Contest To Be Held Democratic women of Cache, county are invited to participate in a speakers' contest to be held under the auspices of the Women's Wo-men's Division of the Democratic Demo-cratic State Committee, on or before be-fore the 17th. day of August, 1940. Mrs. L. E. Nelson, county vice chairman, has been asked to direct the contest in this county. The contest is designed to create cre-ate an informed public opinion based on fact, and is being conducted con-ducted in every county of the state. Winners of the local contests con-tests will compete -in district contests, con-tests, the latter to be held on August 24. From the district enntests. winners will go to ' ne state contest, the first, second and third place winners of which will b-awarded substantial prizes' The state contest will be held on the 14th day of September, 1940. The expenses of winners of county contests to the uistrict contests, and of winners of the district contests to the state contest, con-test, will be paid by the Women'3 Division of the Democratic State Committee. Such winners of the county, district and state contests will be used as speakers during the campaign this fall-Each fall-Each woman entering the contest con-test must be 18 years of age or over. Her speech must cover any single phase of the New Deal program, such as the conservation conserva-tion program, NYA, CCC, WPA professional and service projects, WPA construction project, ...., or what the New Deal has done for the home, banjk, business, farm, etc., and the ,speech must not be longer than twelve minutes. min-utes. In some counties, speech classes are being organized to give women wo-men special training. Local high school and junior college teachers are often available for such classes at a nominal fee.
