Show THE LOW DOWN from i HICKORY GROVE I picked up a Pacific Rural Press it was telling about a questionnaire for the farmers. It is headed, "U. S. Dept. of Agricul-ture Agricul-ture Bureau of Agricultural Economics Ec-onomics Budget Bureau No. 40-4414." The paper says if you like humor, don't miss this pamphlet. Send for it, to 2082 Center street, Berkeley 1, Calif. The questions cover everything except whether a farmer and his wife wash behind their ears. The government wants to know how many card parties each farmer attended last year. How many picnics. How many close friends does he have, and their names, and to what church do they belong, be-long, likewise, himself. How often does he visit them. What does he do when he does visit. Is the house tidy. How many dances per annum. The above is just a few samples, samp-les, and a starter. One other question is, "To what ETHNIC group do you belong?" Ethnic had me stumped. I looked it up in the dictionary I am still stumped. But as near as I can tell she looks like they had just as well called the farmer and his wife a heathen in the first place, and not beat around the bush with five pages of comic questions, printed on paper about which the government gov-ernment says we have a shortage. Yours with the low down, JO SERRA. |
