Show Bond Workers Await "D-Day" With D-Day fast approaching for volunteer workers of the Fifth War Loan drive in Cache county, the merchants' committee of the Logan chamber of commerce, headed by O. W. Edwards, today announced extensive plans of their own to help put over the big campaign to sell $1,493,000 worth of bonds in the county; He announced that a window decoration contest, with three prizes of $10, $7.50 and $5 will be given to individual window trimmers trim-mers in Logan stores who contrive the most dramatic displays using the bond drive theme. The contest con-test will open Monday, June 12 opening day of the drive, and decisions will be made at the end of the week, Mr. Edwards said. "This contest is for the initial display only," Mr. Edwards ax-plained. ax-plained. "Many Logan merchants are planning a series of window displays to run throughout the entire drive. A quota of $300 per clerk has been set up nationally, nation-ally, and certificates of achieve, ment will go out from the treasury treas-ury department to each clerk who meets this quota. "The merchants mer-chants of Logan are co-opexating 300 per cent to put this drive over," he said. A special reminder ' went out to retail merchants from the committee to put their American flags on the curb each morning and remove them each evening starting Monday, June 12 and until un-til July 8, when the drive ends. From another quarter, the headquarters of the Boy Scouts of America in Logan, came word that the scouts of the county are doing a bang up job . in -their pre-drive pre-drive campaign to obtain pledges to have war stamp albums converted con-verted into bonds. It was announced that the scouts of Welsville Second ward, troop 22, have completed their assignment. Orson Perkes is the scoutmaster. There Is keen com-petition com-petition among the five ' districts of the Cache Valley Council, with scouts easterly awaiting announcement announce-ment of the first district to finish its assignment. |
