Show Division Casaba Tourney Set Annual Cache division M.Men basketball tourney will be hold next week, with first round games Wednesday, second Thursday Thurs-day and championship games Saturday, Sat-urday, it was announced today by Ivan Miller of Hyrum, division M-Men vice president, following a meeting of stake representatives at the Eluebirl. All stakes in the division, except ex-cept Logan, will send a team to the tournament. Teams competing will include Trenton or Cornish for Benson stake; Benson for Cache stake; Smithfield Second, Clarkston or Smithfield Fourth for Smithfield stake; Malad Third or Portage for Malad stake; Wellsville for Hyrum stake; Mc-Cammon Mc-Cammon for Portneuf stake and teams from Oneida and Franklin Frank-lin stake, where finalists have not been determined. First round pairings are: McCammon vs. Malad stake winner, Monday, February 28, at 8 p. m. in Malad. Benson stake winner vs. Smith-field Smith-field stake champ, Wednesday at 8 p.m. in a place to be decided this week-end. Franklin stake champion vs. Oneida stake champion at Preston Pres-ton city recreational hall, Wednesday Wed-nesday at 8 p.m. Benson ward vs. Wellsville, Wednesday at 8 p. m. in Wellsville Wells-ville Junior high gym. First night losers are eliminated from the meet by the single loss. The four remaining clubs continut through semi-finals and finals. Thursday's round will be played play-ed at Preston, with the winner of Smithfield-Benson stakes meeting the winner of ' Cache-Hyrum stakes at 8 p.m., and the winner of Portneuf-Malad tackling the winner win-ner of Franklin-Oneida at 9 p.m. Site for Saturday's championship champion-ship contests will be determined following Thursday's round, and will depend on which clubs are in running for the title. Grant Bagley of Richmond, superintendent su-perintendent of Benson stake Y. M.M.I.A., was elected tournament tourna-ment arbiter, with the deadline for protests being Monday, February Feb-ruary 28 |
