Show PLANS IDE FOR INSTALLING HARRIS November 16 Designated' As Date For Ceremony Dr. Franklin S. Karris will- be formally inaugurated as seventh president of Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural college in colorful ceremonies to be conducted November 16 on the campus. Dr. Harris, who assumed duties as president of the institution on July 1, succeeds Dr. E. G. Peterson, Peter-son, president for 29 years, who now is president emeritus. Details for Ihe inauguration are being workej out by a joint committee com-mittee composed of representatives of the board of trustees and a faculty committe. In addition to the formal inauguration inaug-uration ceremony, which will feature fea-ture an address by a nationally-known nationally-known speaker, a reception and other entertainment events will be held. Invitations will be sent to all major university, collge and education officials, and civic officers offi-cers in the area. Prior to coming to U S A C, Dr. Harris was president of Brigham Young University at Provo. Previous presidents have been Jeremiah W. Sanborn, Joshua A. Paul, Joseph M. Tanner, William J. Kerr, Dr. John A. Widtsoe, and Dr. Peterson. Members of the board of trustees trust-ees committe for the event include Dr. W. W. Merrill and Henry Peterson, Pet-erson, Logan; Ray E. Dillman, Roosevelt, Thorpe B. Isaacson, Salt Lake City, and A. W. Chambers, Smithfield. Dr. Joel Ricks, professor of history his-tory at U S A C, heads the faculty committee, assisted by Dr. George Meyer, profesor of modern languages lang-uages and Miss Unl Vermillion, professor of institutional management. |
