Show The Elders and the Missionary class of the Third ward entertained entertain-ed at a party Friday night in honor of Walter Hansen, George Thcrnley and Donald B. Carlson. Community singing was conducted by Mrs. Reed Halverson, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Martha Poulsen. Talks were given by Bishop L. V. TooLson and Reed Halverson. Ar-lon Ar-lon Van Orden sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Albert Mc-Cann. Mc-Cann. A variety of games were I pLiyed under the direction of Mrs. Rodney Nilson and Miss Gwen-della Gwen-della Thornley. Refreshments were served and the boys were present- ed with a gift of the Improvement Era from the Eider and Missionary Mission-ary class. The boys left Tuesday j for Ealt Lake and the army. i I Mrs. H. W. Fern left 'Friday evening for Butte, Montana to attend at-tend the funeral services of her brother, Aaron Richardson who died Wednesday at Butte. George Woolf is at Los Angeles for two weeks on business. Mrs. Kate Corbett and Mrs. Fred j Crowley left Monday for Nebraska where they will spend several; months with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Halgren of Tooele, Utah, were the guesis of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Toolson on FOR FLOUR, Feeds, Coal, Grain Chopping and Grain Steam Rolling, Roll-ing, call at the Mrs. Ethel Hooper and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wood of Ogden visited with friends on Monday. Mrs. L. W. McCann is at the Budge hospital where she underwent under-went a major operation on Wednesday. Wed-nesday. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Toolson announce an-nounce the marriage of their daughter Joyce to Gordon Keith Oldham of San Francisco. The couple were married at Preston and will make their home in San Francisco. Mrs. Bert Kidman of Salt Lake visited with friends over the week end. The boys who left for the army Tuesday from Smtihfield were Don E. Williams, George R. Thornley, Thorn-ley, Donald B. Carlson, Walter Hansen, Howell D. Reese, Paul D. Meikle, Noel L. Allen at the Ladies Literary club Wednesday afternoon after-noon at the home of Miss Gwen-lella Gwen-lella Thornley. Invited guests were Mrs. L. V. Toolson, Mrs. Clark Thornley and Mrs. Martha Poulsen. Poul-sen. Rulon Waite sang several vocal vo-cal selections. Refreshments were served by the hostess. 14 club members were present. Mrs. Archie Arch-ie Egbert is a member of the club. A testimonial for Mrs. Jane N. ' Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Tarbet that their son Thomas D. Tarbet is now stationed sta-tioned with the army air corps at Camp Luna, New Mexico. He is a former student of the USAC and at the time of his enlistment was employed by the Kaiser company - at Van Couver, Washington, i - Gilbert Vaughan of McCammon, Idaho, is spending the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richardson Rich-ardson and family. Mrs. Jack Ranzenberger entertained enter-tained Monday evening at a chicken chick-en dinner in honor of Walter Hansen Han-sen who left Tuesday for the U. S. Army. Those included were Bishop and Mrs. L. V. Toolson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry O. Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hansen and Mr and Mrs. J. Ranzenberger. The evening was spent in visiting. |
