Show Lee Explains New WPB Farm Building Program Farm construction must be limited limit-ed to war needs and only construction con-struction which is specifically exempted ex-empted from the restrictions of the War Production Board or which is specificaly exempted from the restrictions of the War Production Produc-tion Board or which is specifically authorized by the board can be undertaken, said Orville L. Lee of Paradise, chairman of the Utah USDA War Board, as he explained revisions of the farm construction order of the WPB. He said county USDA War Boards have been instructed to approve ap-prove only applications for construction con-struction which is essential, direct-) ly or indirectly, to the successful prosecution of the war. All construction con-struction which is not essential to the war effort and which involves the utilization of labor, material, or construction facilities urgently needed at this time in war industries indus-tries should be deferred for thej duration. ! Farm construction exempted from the restrictions of the WPB order is listed as follows: Construction which was begun before April 9, 1942. Ordinary maintenance and repair" re-pair" vok needed to return the structure to a sound working condition con-dition without change of design. Construction of farm residences where the total cost is less than $200. Reconstruction or restoration of residential construction damage or destroyed after December 31, 1941, by fire.flood, tornado, earth quake, or similar calamity. Construction of farm buildings, fences and other facilities, except residences, serving a single farm where the total cost is less than $1000. Construction of irrigation pipe lines or drainage tile drains in which no materials except earth or other unprocessed materials and clay or non-reinforced concrete tile or pipe, not more than 12 inches in internal diameter, are in-corporaetd. in-corporaetd. Construction or manufacturing processing, or assembling facilities for farm products where the total cost is less than $5000. Any other "off-the-farm" construction con-struction where the total cost is less than $1000. Construction which is to be reviewed re-viewed by the county USDA War Boards and state USDA War Board and which must be approved by WPB includes: When the total cost exceeds the exemptions. When priority assistance is needed need-ed to obtain material. When specific authorization for the particular construction is required. re-quired. Applications for special authorization author-ization for construction of buildings build-ings or other structures used primarily pri-marily for the protection, processing, process-ing, storage or other handling of farm products in their primary stage must be reviewed by state and county USDA War Boards and the U. S. Department of Agriculture Ag-riculture before War Production Board approval can be obtained. Applications sent directly to the WPB without state and county US DA war board approval will be either denied or returned. |
