Show Food Store Survey To Begin March 20 During the week of March' 13 to 20, an OPA food store survey on price compliance will be made in conjunction with the nationwide nation-wide program. Volunteer workers will visit all food stores in Utah, and will check ten, as yet unannounced unan-nounced "market basket" items in each store. The items will probably prob-ably include one or two of meat, a couple of vegetables, and other common food articles. The first four days of the statewide state-wide check-up on endorsement of gasoline coupons disclosed that over 80 per cent of the motorists are in compliance with the OPA regulations governing gasoline coupon cou-pon endorsement. If you have new 1944 license numbers, it "is permissible to write the new number on the cover instead Of crossing out the old number on every coupon. But remember, every ev-ery coupon must have written on its face either your old or your new license number with the name of your state. ' Take care of ration books three and four, especially guard ration book four. That book is going to last you two years, if the need of rationing keeps up. The taxpayers, taxpay-ers, meaning you, will be saved at least $4,500,000 in printing costs if this book is stretched to last that long. So treat it gently. ' In an effort to aid the farmer and to put into action the only fool-proof way to trace counterfeit counter-feit or stolen gasoline coupons, the OPA announces a new ruling for holders of "E" and ''R" books which goes into effect March 15. Farmers may now endorse the face of a whole strip of coupons in-sead in-sead of one at a time. Farmers, and other users of non-highway gasoline, buying for banks . on their property, must now endorse their coupons like everyone else. Tank truck drivers are forbidden to accept unendorsed coupons. "The price control program has saved the public 22 billion dollars dol-lars in civilian goods and services," ser-vices," announced Chester Bowlese OPA administrator. "This amounts to $169 for every person in the country. By comparing this war's prices with those of last year, ceiling prices have saved an additional ad-ditional 67 billion dollars in government gov-ernment military expenditures. That adds up to the impressive total of 89 billions saved to 1944 The cost of the price control effort ef-fort is 155 million dollars, or $1.14 annually for every person in the country." A survey made throughout the defense rental area shows a drop in violations of the OPA rent control con-trol regulations. In January there were nine violation complaint cases which arose,, in the combined com-bined area in comparison to 63 in April, 1943, and 38 in May, 1943. Replies to questionnaires revealed re-vealed that 10 per cent of the landlords are failing to file a registration statement, and 30 per cent failed to report change in tenancy. New consultation hours have been announced by Glen D. Reese, OPA district rent execu-tivefl execu-tivefl The office will be open for consultation from 1:15 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. daily. Don't forget that the No. 18 shoe stamp in ration book one expires April 30. Airplane stamp one, book three, is good indefinitely. indefi-nitely.
